Proviron Information:

Proviron is ananti-oestrogen drug, which is synthetic in nature and is considered anorally effective androgen of DHT. It is basically used for thetreatment of disturbances that are created in the human body because ofthe deficiency of male sex hormones. Proviron is also known as androgenmesterolone (1 methyl-dihydrotestosterone). It does not show anaboliccharacteristics, but still it gives many positive results. Although itcannot help in enhancing the testosterone level still it is veryeffective for eliminating the dysfunctions, which are caused bylow-level testosterone. Proviron results in recovery from poor memory,disturbances of libido and potency, lack of concentration, andirritability. It results in the treatment of sexual dysfunction andincreases the sperm count.

A number of men showimpotency or lowered sexual interest after taking some steroidtreatments. Proviron is usually taken just after discontinuing thesteroid treatment because it decreases these risks in men. Anotherappreciable use of Proviron is that it inhibits the aromatisation ofanabolics. In this way in an indirect manner, Proviron also avoidswater retention in the body. Proviron is an approved drug for thetreatment of declining physical activity, potency disturbances,infertility and hypogonadism.

The effective dosage of Proviron is 10-30 mg/day, but it can varydepending on individual body requirements. or months. For the completesuppression of oestrogen, a combination of Proviron with Nolvadex iseffective. If you missed a dose of Proviron, do not take two doses nexttime because it can cause toxicity in the liver – just continue withyour next dose at the correct time.

There are a few side effects of Proviron, such as its major sideeffect of liver toxicity, (usually in the case of high doses). Therehave been reports of elevated blood pressure in some people. It canalso cause issues in the prostate, therefore, if you are a taker ofProviron then do get a regular check up of your prostate. Generally,Proviron does not cause many side effects - and those which are causedby it can be overcome with the help of doctors.

Before usage:

Beforeyou start to take Proviron, your doctor will conduct an examination ofthe prostate. Your doctor will also note your family medical historyand perform other tests including a blood test.

Tell your doctor if you:

• have a heart condition
• have impaired kidney function
• suffer from high blood pressure
• suffer from migraines
• have epilepsy
• have diabetes
• have porphyria – a rare metabolising disorder

Tellyour doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including those thatyou buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket orhealth food shop.

Some medicines may affect the way otherswork. Your doctor or pharmacist will be able to tell you what to dowhen taking Proviron with other medicines.

Some medicines may interfere with the absorption of Proviron. These medicines include: Phenobarbital, Phenytoin.

Provironmay interfere with the absorption of the following medicines:Cyclosporin, Antidiabetics, Thyroxine, Anticoagulants such as warfarin.

Do not take Proviron if you:

• have an allergy to mesterolone or any of the ingredients in Proviron
• have cancer of the prostate
• have previous or existing liver tumours
• have high blood calcium levels

Do not take Proviron after the expiry date printed on the pack.

How to use Proviron:

How much to take
Your doctor or pharmacist will tell you how much and how often youshould take Proviron. For Proviron to work best it is very important totake Proviron exactly as your doctor tells you. You should not exceedthe recommended dose your doctor has prescribed for you.

How to take it
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water or other fluid. Do not chew the tablets.

When to take it
Generally initial treatment consists of 1-2 tablets three times per day which may be reduced after some months.

If you forget to take it
If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed andtake your next dose when you are meant to. Otherwise, take it as soonas you remember, and then go back to taking it as you would normally.Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed. Ifyou are not sure what to do, ask your doctor or pharmacist. If you havetrouble remembering when to take your medicine, ask your pharmacist forsome hints.

If you take too much (overdose)
Immediately telephone your doctor, or the Poisons Information Centre,or go to the accident and emergency department at your nearesthospital, if you think you or anyone else may have taken too muchProviron. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort orpoisoning. You may need urgent medical attention.

While using Proviron:

Yourdoctor will conduct regular examinations of the prostate. In rare casesnon-cancerous and in even rarer cases cancerous liver tumours leadingin isolated cases to life-threatening bleeding within the stomach havebeen observed after the use of hormonal substances such as the onecontained in Proviron. Tell your doctor if you have any unusualabdominal complaints which do not disappear within a short time.

Do not give your Proviron tablets to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you.

Proviron side effects:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible if you do not feel well while you are taking Proviron.

Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following:

• headache
• pain in liver area
• symptoms of an enlarged prostate such as changes in urination, or blood in the urine or ejaculate
• pain in lower back or abdomen
• pain in pelvic area
• loss of appetite
• unexplained weight loss
• depression
• aggression
• acne
• hirsutism

Iffrequent or persistent erections occur, the doctor may reduce the doseor discontinue treatment in order to avoid injury to the penis.

Otherside effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. Tellyour doctor if you notice anything else that is making you feel unwell.

Do not be alarmed by this list of possible side effects. You may not experience any of them.

How to store Proviron:

Keepyour tablets in the original packaging until it is time to take them.If you take the tablets out of the bottle or the blister pack they maynot keep well.

Keep your tablets in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 30oC. Do not leave the tablets in the car on hot days.

Keep your tablets where children cannot reach them.
