It is a relatively newnon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and contains the activeingredient called celecoxib. This drug also containssulfonamide, hence it can cause reactions in people who are allergic todrugs containing sulfonamide.

Celebrex has also shown that it acts as a reducing agent for certaincancers, particularly colorectal cancers. However its use as a cancertreatment drug is still controversial because of its harmful effects onthe heart and blood circulatory system.
