Vespar detailed information:
Vespar (buspirone hydrochloride - BH) belongs to a general class ofdrugs called antianxiety agents and is not chemically orpharmacologically related to the benzodiazepines, barbiturates, orother sedative/anxiolytic drugs.
Vespar is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders or theshort-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety. Some anxiety symptoms:motor tension; shakiness, trembling, tension, muscle aches, fatigability, inability to relax, eyelid twitch, restlessness, autonomic hyperactivity; sweating, heart pounding or racing, cold, clammy hands, dry mouth, dizziness, upset stomach. Anxiety or tensionassociated with the stress of everyday life usually does not requiretreatment with an anxiolytic. The action of buspirone hydrochloride isnot known, but it affects the many neurotransmitters in the brain thatbring about the feeling of anxiety.
This medicine contains the active ingredient buspironehydrochloride, which is a type of medicine called an anxiolytic. Theway in which buspirone works is not fully understood. It appears to actby modifying the release of a mixture of neurotransmitters in thebrain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that are stored in nerve cellsand are involved in transmitting messages between the nerve cells.Buspirone is thought to enhance the activity of the neurotransmittersdopamine and noradrenaline, and to reduce the activity of theneurotransmitters serotonin and acetylcholine in the brain. The overalleffect is to relieve feelings of anxiety.
Vespar differs from other anxiolytics in that it does not possessanticonvulsant or muscle relaxant properties, does not impairpsychomotor function, and does not cause sedation or physicaldependence. Buspirone hydrochloride is used to treat generalizedanxiety disorder and anxiety caused by alcohol craving or smokingcessation, as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder inchildren. The reported side effects were very mild, and many clinicaltrials have shown the superiority of Buspirone hydrochloride over othertraditional stimulant-based treatments.
Buspirone hydrochloride tablets are taken by mouth the same time each day. There is no evidence that Vespar is addictive.
